Chances are that you’ve heard of mystery shopping. The idea is simple – companies want to know how well they are doing “at ground level” so they employ companies to send out mystery shoppers who have to fulfill certain tasks, such as asking for a product recommendation, stating some symptoms and seeing what products are offered, ordering a certain drink, etc and reporting back on the service provided, cleanliness, time keeping, etc. The shopper gets their purchases reimbursed to a certain amount and also a small fee for carrying out the job.
Lately I’ve got back into mystery shopping with Market Force and I thought I’d blog about it. Market Force, formerly Retail Eyes, are my favourite mystery shopping company. With other companies I’ve found that they will email you with exciting jobs, and by the time you’ve logged in the jobs are gone. Or the jobs are 50 miles away. With Market Force you can set your preferred areas and search for jobs according to those areas. This suits me perfectly as we can play days out according to where we can eat for free! They pay on time and I’ve had no problems with them. They may want to contact you after a visit to clarify some details, such as who you were served by, etc.
Just this weekend we were able to have a £35 meal for two paid for at a popular restaurant chain, and tonight we’re going to a popular chicken restaurant and getting free food and a payment. Market Force clearly explain the assignment notes and show you the questionnaire you have to fill in after your visit before you accept the job.

Market force have recently lowered the fees they pay their mystery shoppers, to the extent they are now ‘taking the mick’. Its a shame people are willing to accept assignments for pence. If people refused to do them for such silly amounts maybe they would offer a realistic reward and stop being so greedy

I used to carry out assignments for market force/retail eyes but now they have sliced another 25 pence off their pitiful fees – and reimbursement barely covers the required purchases – by the time you’ve added the transport costs, it becomes barely worth the bother. It’s unfortunate that so many shoppers are apparently accepting this without complaint. well, good luck, but my time is just a tad more valuable than £3.75 and a £3 sandwich!

You guys should do what I did and register with a few of these guys. That way you can make sure that you are as busy as you want to be. I mainly use http://www.amberarch.com as you can self-assign the jobs so easily. Well worth a look
