£2 free fuel – yes really!

fuel

Up until leasing a car last month, fuel has been my biggest expense – even more than my half of the rent! I’m always looking for ways to save on fuel, so I’m actually a little excited to tell you about this deal.

Topcashback have this brilliant service Snap & Save, where you can upload a photograph of your shopping receipts and get cash back on certain products. You can use their smartphone app or upload from the website. Starting from today (20th May at 10.00) and running until 23.59 on Sunday 25 May 2014, if you buy at least £10 of fuel from any of the petrol stations below and upload your receipt, you’ll get £2 cash back.

You must sign up through this link to get the £2 off fuel. So that’s £8 for £10 worth of fuel! You can, of course, buy more, but you must spend at least £10 on fuel. This is available to the first 5,000 people to submit their receipts.

The filling stations included are:

  • Tesco
  • Morrisons
  • Sainsbury’s
  • Asda
  • The Co-Operative
  • Esso
  • BP
  • Texaco
  • Gulf
  • Total
  • Jet
  • Murco
  • Shell

Cashback

I can’t believe that I’ve been running my blog for almost two months and I haven’t written about something I adore: cashback!
The idea is simple. A company (let’s use BT for instance and hope they don’t sue me) pay a cashback site (Quidco) an amount of money for each genuine new customer they bring. In order to get customers for BT, Quidco offer potential customers an amount of cash back as a reward for registering for the services through Quidco. Quidco get some pennies, you get some pennies and the whole world is happy.
Cashback can be applied to a whole host of scenarios from your weekly online food shop, to ordering a free SIM card, to gambling loopholes (deposit and play £10 and get £20 cashback, therefore £10 profit even if you lose), to switching utilities and much more.
There are loads of cashback websites out there, and my personal favourite is Quidco. It is my first port of call for any purchases, and the other two I use are TopCashBack and WePromiseTo. What I like about WePromiseTo is that they also pay out via Amazon vouchers and they’ll give you an additional 5% of your earnings! It’s also worth mentioning Greasy Palm, although I rarely use them, just when a retailer isn’t on any of the major 3.
You can also earn cashback when shopping in real stores such as Cineworld, Halfords,  Debenhams and many more. You do need to place your card details on the websites, which is fully secure, to receive your cashback for offline shopping.
Cashback isn’t instant, I usually receive mine a couple of months after my initial purchase. You can also get cashback for no spend items, such as a free SIM card, using a comparison website, etc.
I’ve just reached over 50 followers on the blog so a competition is in order! Trying to decide what to give away on a website that promotes being thrifty and earning more money has been difficult, but with the help of some friends on Twitter I’ve managed to come up with a fabulous idea, so that will be happening once I’ve actually, you know, bought the stuff!
Preparation for March’s Money Making Marathon are well under way – I don’t want to give too much away before March begins but let’s just say that I appear to be a money making machine at the moment – long may it continue.
That’s all for now lovelies. I’ve got a handful of things to pop on eBay (hello free listing weekend), a ton of things to parcel, a ton of custom jewellery orders to make and a take away with my name on it!
