September 2015 money making challenge introduction

September challenge introduction

September is finally here, which means it is time for another money making challenge. As you know, in July I set a target of £2,000 and outdid myself, the same for August’s £1,000 challenge. September’s goal is £2,000.

My rules

This £2,000 is above my usual wages from work and won’t include any overtime payments – it will solely be from online earnings. I also won’t be counting my matched betting earnings (£1,400 in my first month) because I am keeping those earnings separate – both to blog about and in how I use the money earned.

I will only count cash that hits my bank account – not as I earn it. I also will not be counting any vouchers I earn, such as Amazon gift cards or supermarket vouchers. Just cold, hard cash.

How I am going to do it

Taking a few minutes to read through my blog, you will know that there are many ways to make some extra cash! It would take me ages to list them all. I have absolutely nothing in the pipeline and I’m not confident about this month. A few things that were planned (such as a village wide yard sale) have fallen through. I am going to be focussing this week on:

  • Checking The Selfie Lottery daily – I have already won £23.
  • Completing tests for WhatUsersDo.
  • Checking Lucky Phone daily to see if I have won in the free prize draw.
  • Looking for some jobs on People Per Hour.
  • Facebook selling – we’ve spent a lot of time de-cluttering but now we need to get the items sold. Seeing as the weather has been rubbish lately, we can’t hope for good weather for a car boot sale.

Wish me luck!

I wouldn’t count Facebook selling / Carboot selling as a total as you’ve had to buy those items in order to sell them. I think it would be interesting to see what you’re selling, what you paid originally, why your parting with the item and how you can avoid buying items like this in the future.

The items in my case are mostly wedding items that are no longer needed. I’ve gone to the effort of decluttering, then going to the effort of selling so I will definitely be counting anything I earn there towards my total. Especially with a goal of £2,000.

        I would totally count them!

People are always told if they want to make extra money to sell their old stuff…so why wouldn’t someone include it in a challenge total? :/

I live an uber-minimalistic lifestyle. I don’t purchase things I don’t need, so I guess my question was how can you continue to have things to sell. I can understand a one off clear out, and I can understand things that have been well used and have no longer a purpose in your life.

But general tat is a no for me. :-)

Things such as CD’s and DVD’s where you purchase them for something silly like £10 now, and sell them in weeks or months time for a tenth of the price. I wouldn’t see that as making £1 selling that item, I’d see that as a loss of £9.

It’s really interesting to see the other challenges and boundaries people set themselves. Everyone is different :)

I get the logic behind this, but in this case, wedding items have had their full value taken out of them I would expect. Also everyone counts different things. I buy to sell, so when taking part in this challenge (on the money shed forum) I only count real profit.

I love reading about how other people are earning their money online and the monthly challenges are a good way to keep you focused. It is alays good to have something to aim for.
Yes I would definitely count anything I sold as part of a money making challenge. It is money you make rather than buying items then selling them on to make a profit.

I was inspired by some of your earlier blogs to do my own little challenges! But I was only aiming for a small amount – an extra £50 a month. I’ve done it by surveys, selling books, eBay etc. Its only tiny but I’ve just managed to pay my car off three months early so they’ve all added up! Thanks for the inspiration.
