Razors are expensive, whether you opt for disposable razors or purchase new blades regularly. Here are a few tips to keep the cost of razor blades down.
1. Mystery shopping
If you are lucky enough to get a high street pharmacy as a client then you can use your allowance to purchase razors or blades. This money is then reimbursed to you after the mystery shop (plus a fee for going), so you can get them for free. New to mystery shopping? Try MarketForce.
2. Find the best price
Spend a few minutes looking around to see if there are any offers for the blades you want to purchase. Flubit will try to beat any Amazon price, so it is also worth creating a demand for a price there. Also be sure to check eBay.
3. Buy in bulk
Buying your razor blades in bulk can significantly reduce the cost per unit. The bigger packs may cost you more now, but they will save you money in the long run.
4. Amazon subscribe and save
Subscribe and save is a fantastic service from Amazon. Sign up to receive razor blades regularly, and you could be saving up to £1 per delivery. You can choose to have them delivered every 1-6 months.
5. Dry your current razor
Water that remains on the blades between use will cause the metal to flake off from corrosion. This leads to the blade becoming blunt. Be sure to dry your razor blades between uses – blotting try on a towel will be sufficient.
6. Sharpen them on denim
Run the razor along the entire length of an old pair of jeans around 20 times in each direction. The denim fiber is fantastic for sharpening razors – so much so that doing this regularly can make a disposable blade last up to a year.
