2013 has been a very exciting year for me on a personal level and a professional level. When I saw the Moments That Mattered competition sponsored by Lloyds Bank, I knew I had to enter. Especially as I didn’t do a “2013 round up” like I’d been on many other blogs.
2013 has also been a very defining year for me, with some big changes.
In February, I made a brave decision to quit my job. It was a very scary time, because Tony was out of work and I didn’t know what the future held. As it turns out, the future held something amazing, and the following month I landed my dream job, which also happens to pay double what my last job did. I don’t regret my decision at all and I’m thrilled with how things turned out.
In April, I took From Aldi To Harrods to the next level, moving from blogger to a self hosted WordPress site with domain. My visitors have grown and it still amazes me that hundreds of different people come on here daily. Every day a new opportunity presents itself, and although it is hard at times (blogging about making money is something that not many other bloggers do, so I don’t “fit in” with all the cool fashion or beauty bloggers; plus it takes a lot of time to research earning opportunities because I don’t want anyone to get scammed), I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
In November, I was selected as one of ten finalists for Savoo’s UK’s Smartest Shopper 2013. This was a fantastic opportunity and led to me meeting some amazing bloggers, both in the flesh and online. It was a great honour to be selected as a finalist.
And also in November, probably the most amazing Moment That Mattered happened. Tony proposed to me. In Disney’s Magic Kingdom. In front of Cinderella’s Castle. And then he took me inside the castle to have lunch with the princesses. There are no words to describe how perfect this moment was, it was so special to us and something we will always treasure. Even more so because Tony managed to get a Disney photographer involved and he captured the exact moment Tony proposed. I love that we will always have these photos to look back on.
Of course 2013 was filled with lots of moments that mattered, both positive and negative. I’m already embracing what 2014 has in store for me.
