Day 5 – March Money Making Madness

Day 5

Money money money – Day 5 is very different. Did you know that there are currently a few rare coins that are fetching various amounts on eBay? At the moment the Kew Gardens 50p coin is going well – this one went for £100, this one for £31.52 and this one for £46. With 1 in 300 people estimated to have this rare Kew Gardens coin, it is worth a look! Not only the Kew Gardens 50p is rare – check out these “rare 50p” listings that have sold recently on eBay. Alongside this, undated 20p coins are fetching upwards of £45.

  1. Look through all the coins in your household – even if it means cracking open that piggy bank, to see if you have any of the rare 50p coins and undated 20p coins.
  2. If you are lucky enough to find some then photograph them ready to get listed on eBay. And let us know in the comments if you’ve found something.
  3. If you have a coin collection/piggy bank then start counting to see if you have enough to bank. You can get free coin bags from your bank or your local Post Office. Alternatively, if you go to a supermarket self checkout then you can throw in all the loose coins to pay for your shopping, counting the money you’ve saved towards March Money Making Madness.
