Maximiles

I’ve come across this great website for earning vouchers – Maximiles. You earn points through a variety of methods – watching videos, completing surveys, updating your profile, signing up for offers and more. I joined yesterday and already have 600 points – 3,000 points works out as a £10 supermarket gift voucher, so it looks like I’ll be cashing out soon!
My biggest earner has been the videos – you play a video (in the background or you can watch it) then vote, click onto the next video and you can earn 20 points.
You can also put your points towards a variety of items such as a popcorn maker, DS games, pack of sky lanterns and much more!
You can join using the link above, or if you’d like me to refer you then just leave your e-mail address in the comments. You’ll get an extra 100 points for being referred by me.

Help! I Need Some Cash

Let’s be honest, you’re not reading From Aldi To Harrods because of my brilliant writing style and good looks – you want to know how to make some cash. Whilst I try and make my blog as user friendly as possible it’s still a minefield out there and knowing where to start can seem quite daunting. Even more so if you’re desperate for some cash for an unexpected bill and feel confused. This led me to thinking about creating a “Help! I Need Some Cash” post, using certain time frames by which you need the money by to help you decide what to do.
Help, I need some cash within a week!
For whatever reason you need some cash within a week. A mere 7, or fewer, days to get some money together. It feels impossible. You know eBay will take too long, so what can you do?
  • Post items for sale over at TSUK. Do this on the first day of your week, allowing 3-5 days for Paypal to transfer the funds into your bank account. Read my blog post about this
  • Do a bootsale. Read my blog post about this
  • Cloud Crown. You won’t get rich but you will get paid the following day into your Paypal account. Allow 3-5 days for the funds to transfer into your bank account. Read my blog post about this
  • Sell your unwanted items quickly via pawn brokers/Cash Converters/game shops.
  • Count up your loose change and get it banked. Every little helps.

Help, I need some cash within a fortnight!
As above, you can start with the weekly ideas and expand on them a little bit.

  • List items on eBay. A fortnight is enough time to list items for 7 days, allow a couple of days for postage and payments to come through, 3-5 days for your Paypal funds to clear and you’ve made a bit of cash. Read my blog post about this
  • Along the same lines you can list unwanted books, CDs, DVDs and games on both Amazon and Play.com, for free. Although items may not sell, if they do, funds are transferred to your bank within approximately 5 daysRead my blog post about this
  • Play some free bingo. There are 3 sites I verify as being able to make money from this. Money could possibly be back in your bank account within a week but a fortnight would be a safer bet. Read my blog post about this
Help, I need some cash within a month/longer term!

As well as both the week and fortnight ideas you can expand a little bit more on some other ideas. Some of these things are things I now consider to be a way of life for me and are things I do even when I’m not actively trying to make money.

I hope this guide is somewhat useful – its certainly helped me to find areas that I’ve not actually written about yet, as well as made me realise I want to organise my blog a bit better and reach a nice balance between personal money making updates and guides.

I’d also like to take a moment to let you know that I updated the Smelly Shoes on eBay guide last week so do go and take a look – it is still the most popular article on my blog…hm…I wonder why…

The survey sites

Total spent: £24.29 – £75.71 remaining
Total made: £196.27*/£500 *still need to deduct postage and a handful of eBay auctions ending tonight
Weight loss: 4lbs

Check out the weight loss! I cheated and weighed myself today instead of tomorrow because I had some midnight munchies last night and ended up devouring some cheese biscuits with inches of butter, a slice of cake and some pretzels. I had no idea if my willpower would be shot for today so I decided to take today’s weigh in and run. As it turns out I haven’t been too bad today – another slice of cake, my last remaining glass bottle of (full fat) Coke and when I cooked the roast chicken the skin was so crispy and nice that I couldn’t resist. All in all I’m quite pleased with a 4lb loss.
I am going crazy! I have spent so much of this weekend listing eBay items (current total: 100 and no more) and constantly doing NVQ work as I’m being assessed every 1-2 weeks and need to get a move on. I’ve got 10 more fiddly things left to do – some are simple like adding page numbers, others are writing reflective accounts. They all need to be done by Thursday and I cannot do any more, struggling so much right now. Woe is me.
So today is all about surveys. Surveys are boring. Surveys won’t make you rich, but let’s talk about them anyway. Survey sites pay out in two ones – money or vouchers. If you don’t already have one, you may want to get a Paypal account.
General survey tips:
  • Sign up with an e-mail address exclusively for surveys. That way your inbox won’t be flooded with surveys and if you go through a phase I like to call “OMG WILL YOU SURVEYS GO AWAY NOW” then simple – just don’t check that e-mail address. You should all know where to go for e-mail addresses by now (Hotmail, Gmail).
  • Sign up for them all. Yes it is tedious. Cashing out takes ages so you may as well sign up for lots of sites.
  • Cash out as soon as you’ve reached the minimum cash out amount – you can still save the money or vouchers to use later.
There are tons of survey sites out there, but below is a list of my favourite ones, in order of preference. There are loads more websites out there, but these are the ones I currently use.
Lightspeed/My Survey needs e-mail invitation from a member (leave your e-mail in the comments if you’d like me to send you one)
Pinecone (you need to Google for a sign up link)
Shop & Scan (you scan your weekly food shop and get points to turn into vouchers)
Neilson home scan (Google for a sign up link)
I can send e-mail referrals for most of these if you would like me to – just let me know in the comments.

That’s it for today, more NVQ stuff is waiting.
