A week of Spring Cleaning - The Kitchen

Today we continue with our spring clean by tackling the kitchen and utility room.

Dust:

  • Light fittings.
  • Above the doors.
  • Skirting boards.
  • Surfaces.

Wipe & Clean:

  • Walls.
  • Skirting boards.
  • Door knobs.
  • Light switches.
  • Tiles.
  • Oven.
  • Hob.
  • Microwave.
  • Crumbs from your toaster.
  • Draining board.
  • Run a maintenance cycle on your washing machine.
  • Clean your washing machine’s detergent drawer.
  • Remove fluff from your tumble drier.

Vacuum/sweep/mop:

  • Floor – moving furniture out of the way to clean underneath instead of just around.
  • Upholstered furniture.

Sort:

  • Fridge – remove everything and clean. As you put items back in, check them for sell by dates.
  • Freezer – remove everything and de-ice if required. As you put items back in, check them for sell by dates.
  • Kitchen cupboards – remove items and wipe down the cupboards. Replace items, checking for sell by dates.
  • Put aside any dry food products that are unused and still in date to be donated to your local food bank.
  • Wash all textiles and replace with clean ones.
  • Remove items that do not belong in the kitchen and put then aside for putting away properly.

List:

  •  Jobs to be completed at a later date such as touching up paint.
  • Item(s) you need to restock such as foil or kitchen roll.
